Good morning readers & happy Monday! We are currently writing from Boise Idaho where we are enjoying a little family vacation time. :) this place is gorgeous & the people are so incredibly friendly. I'll be sad to leave here but excited for my birthday week & for Logan's first 4th of July celebration!
So….
Some of you might remember my blog post back in March about raising a bi-racial child. (If not you can take a look back in the archives). We recently came across a sweet little company on instagram & fell in love!! We are a big “shop small” family & lots of Logan’s clothes, toys, & games come from small shops on Etsy & Instagram. Logan is 7 months now & is starting to understand a lot of new things. He is also VERY interested in toys & games now. We stumbled across the amazing company “Tiny & Wild” and just absolutely loved their concept & story. Sonny & Carlene Cruz wanted to create fun dolls that their Filipino daughter could connect with. Dolls that looked & dressed like she did, with similar facial & body features as well. They wanted them to be modern, fun, & wild!
I love this!!
I thought a little Logan doll would be fun for us to get for traveling. A little doll (which has been named little LJ) for Logan to have as a keepsake as we travel around Europe & everywhere else! As Logan gets older, we will teach him about his differences & share with him about why we carry little LJ around with us.
This little doll will travel with us on planes, cars, & trains. We will share tea in London; we will share a picnic under the Eiffel Tower, a high five at daddy’s basketball games, & bratwurst in Germany. No matter the city or country, Logan will always have a little friend that will travel along with us that looks like him, even when maybe no other children do.
For so many, this might seem like such a silly concept or unnecessary. But the life we live in foreign countries isn’t always the friendliest when it comes to culture. I never want Logan to feel out of place or uncomfortable. I want him to always have a little play friend that is just like him! For us to encourage him to try new things and that little LJ will try them too. When he is scared or lonely, which WILL happen as an only child right now; that he has a little buddy just like him.
I feel like it’s very important that Logan interacts with children of different cultures, ethnicities, & who maybe do not even speak English. I want him immersed in local culture wherever we go; this isn’t a protest for him to avoid that. But these little character dolls will be a great conversation piece, a great comfort, and a fun travel buddy where lots of memories will be made with. I will add more as he grows & his features change. When he is older, I hope he can have a fun little collection to share with his children & show them all the photos with his little LJ of all the cool places he traveled.
Anyways, we love Tiny & Wild and their great concept. We love all the fun little dolls and items they have in their shop too! As you can see in the photos, they aren’t like Barbie dolls. They are large, plush dolls. Logan loves just staring at him & talking to him. It’s so cute to watch.
Below are some pictures of little LJ’s first trip to Idaho!
Thanks Tiny & Wild for this cute doll for Logan & for giving him the chance to have a matching buddy!
Have a wonderful week mamas!
