Mommy Monday's- Logan's 1/2 birthday!

Hello friends & happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with your families. I was so blessed to spend my FIRST Mother's Day with my favorite 2 guys for brunch & enjoyed a spa day as well. I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband & a special little boy that makes me a mama!

We had my son Logan's big 1/2 birthday this weekend & it made my heart so full! Many people knew about the party...and many wondered where their invites were! Well, we specifically wanted to keep this party just with family. Since we travel out of the country the majority of the year, most of our families had not met my son yet. It was important they all got the chance to spend a little time with us & celebrate his little life :)

So this blog post is about the people that helped bring my vision to life & to the awesome people we shared the day with!

Logan's 1/2 birthday was a hit! We took his pre-party smash cake pictures in the park with this hat.
•Cards & Moore by Terri- birthday hat (etsy shop)
•Dixie Powell- birthday suit (etsy shop)

I printed out pictures of Logan & they hung on the banner. I'm keeping these to hang in his nursery :)

Oh the talented Megan Garza!! Holy Moses! She took all my crazy thoughts in my head & my over the top ideas & brought them to life for me!

The cake was fabulous. I was so happy to use Liz & was super impressed with her prompt responses to all the changes & requests I gave her. Oh....& the Italian cream cake was delicious!!!

Logan also had his own cake to eat. Usually when a little one has a first birthday they are 12 months old & can eat a larger palette of food. Logan is just starting to enjoy some solid food but there was no way he was getting regular cake. So with trial & error I came up with a yummy baby friendly cake!

Healthy Baby Smash Cake
2 cups of pureed sweet potato
2 ounces of breast milk/formula
1 cup of organic rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 whole banana- chopped (as an egg substitute)
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of baking soda
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes
*for icing I used plain organic, pasteurized, Greek yogurt & topped with a few blueberries*

I designed these invitations online
•Invitations- tiny prints
((I covered up the address--but it's basic party info in the bottom right))

I loved going to Arne's since everything is separated in the store by color & event...made it super easy to pick out what I wanted to coordinate & match.

Logan started out with his matching Jordan outfit. My husband & I coordinated with him. After the smash cake damage, we changed him into a little onesie with shorts & moccasins.
•Logan's wardrobes: gap, old navy, freshly picked, & Jordan.

We asked on the invitation for everyone to bring Logan a book. Of course we have toys for Logan but with living overseas, books are the biggest issue. All the books are in another language....so the best gifts are books in English that I can read to Logan. We asked everyone to sign their book so we can always have their sweet notes when we open the pages of the books. Logan received over 30 books this weekend! We are so grateful.

So many sweet hands went into making this party amazing & I'm so grateful for everyone who was a part of it & for all our family who came from Dallas, Killeen, Austin, Van, & Houston to be there for Logan.

This whole week I will be showcasing the different shops & items that made Logan's big day so special by posting a photo with the information. This will be on Facebook & Instagram @msjonez10

Hope you all have a wonderful week! We are headed to the gym this morning! I LOVE that hubby is now home & we get to workout together everyday again!!! :)

Love,
Morgan

  1. Awww Morgan! I couldn't stop smiling reading through this blog. Your family is so cute, and you both are so blessed!

what awesome design concepts that you and your team came up with. LOL. I love the idea of asking for books for Logan. You can never have too many books.

Cant wait to see who he becomes in the future :)
