This entry is not a motivational Monday fitness post, but since we are overseas I wanted to share a brief summary of our birth story so our friends, family, & fans could share in our joy!
On Friday evening I was experiencing some moderate contractions but they were about 20 minutes apart. The Dr had already told us to wait to head to the hospital until they were about 5 minutes apart. Lorenzo was at practice & I was home with my mom. When he got home about 8:30, the contractions had become more painful but still they were more than 15 minutes apart. There was that gut feeling that something just wasn't right. So I told my mom & Zo we needed to go ahead & head on in to the hospital.
Off we went....
We checked in about 10:30pm & my contractions were becoming more painful by the minute. I measured at 2cm dilated & began preparations for an ultrasound, blood work, & to be moved to labor & delivery to begin my epidural. I had already planned on doing the epidural, so I was ready & anxious for the pain relief!
By 2am I was 4cm dilated & mostly pain free :)
About 4am I was only at 5cm dilated but was getting the pain sensations back, I requested another dose of pain relief & within 30 minutes of that I was at 10cm dilated & ready to push!
I pushed about 10 times & Logan was starting to come out. His heart rate was dropping more than they wanted & Logan was still pretty stuck!! The dr. decided to make an incision to allow a little more room for Logan to have a "expedited entrance" . It worked & our sweet little prince was out within 2 minutes. Not screaming and whaling, he was so calm & curious.
Immediately we were able to enjoy some skin on skin time with mommy & daddy & it was such an emotional and beautiful time for me & my husband. Logan was just what we anticipated & so much more!
We were in the hospital with Logan & my mom up until Sunday morning when we were both cleared to leave. Logan is healthy & today is right at the weight he was born at. :)
I feel great for the most part, the stitches & recovery from my incision is the most painful right now. But of course, so worth it to see my beautiful son. My labor was so smooth & my husband & my mom were such troopers! My husband did an amazing job coaching me through all my pains & contractions as well as helping me push through the delivery.
We are all happy, healthy, and a little tired!! :)
Next week I will be back with motivational Mondays & fitness stuff! For the next week...it won't be on my mind :)
