Hey everyone! Game day in our house this evening. I didn't write a motivational Monday yesterday as I was completely exhausted from our 12 hour adventure to the country of Lithuania and then back to the main city in Latvia- Riga. It was an off day for hubby on Sunday and so we woke up super early and spent the day road tripping! It was awesome scenery but we were so wiped out yesterday!!
On our adventure we stopped to eat at TGIFridays...just FYI- there is a TGIFridays in almost every foreign country, I have no clue why but there is, and it's American food & English menu. Of course this was my husbands pick & not mine but he deserved a big cheat meal!!
So why is today's topic wanting the change? Well...by dining out at a yummy restaurant with ridiculous and fat fat food, we have EVERY excuse and opportunity to eat AWFUL! I wanted to take a little moment to share that if you really want a change in your body & health you CAN and you can do it anywhere. If I can do it at Fridays in a foreign country, you can too!!
Most of you that follow my blog or that train with me know that I follow a 85% and 15% diet- processed is the 15%. So even though I can have some "cheat" food, TGIFridays is not the place to do it! No restaurant really is. They usually add lots of sugar, carbs, and ingredients that give flavor but lack any nutrients. I prefer to wait until I'm home or stop at a gas station and grab a mocha coffee, a 1/2 of a snickers bar, a few pieces of dark chocolate or a diet coke.
So what did I do at TGIfridays? I saw that there was a jack Daniels chicken meal that had 2 grilled chicken breasts, veggies, and mashed potatoes. So I asked the waitress to please cook my grilled chicken plain with no sauce only pepper, and to give me two sides of vegetables instead of mashed with one side of veggies. Of course they did it! And most any restaurant will. So all you need to do is ask!!! By doing that I went from a 625 calorie & 79 carbohydrate meal to a 260 calories & 28 carb meal!! A little change for big results...if you really want it you can by making small changes, even when you're out to eat. I did ask for the jack Daniels sauce on the side and dipped my fork in a few times for flavor on my chicken, it was about 1 teaspoon worth and only added about 20 calories.
Just wanted to share this with you guys because this is the life I live daily...I have to constantly make small changes to my diet to stay on track...I'm now on a strict lean out diet and my carb intake has dropped 20 per day. Because carbs are in everything even fruits & vegetables I have to modify even more these next 8 weeks. Is it worth it? Totally!! I loved watching hubby enjoy his bacon hamburger and I loved my chicken!! :)
We all have our own choices, this is just mine, but I love it and my body loves me for it. My muscles show my hardwork and my energy & stamina thank me too!!! Life is full of choices, these are the easy ones for me!!
Don't let eating out be a setback, enjoy the time with loved ones, friends, and family; but stay on track...flavor now is not worth the work later!
Let your food be fun! You deserve the best for your body, and if you give it your best and give it 100% it will thank you back!!!
Transform this week my friends!!! Stay motivated!!!
P.s- there is a whole chapter on restaurant eating & staying on point in my nutrition eBook that's being released online October 15.
