Motivational Mondays- the power of fit!

Hey everyone and happy Monday! I posted the above picture on my instagram last week and said "if you want it bad enough, you'll work hard to get it! I am my hardest critic and my only competition!" One of my favorite thoughts!

This is an exciting week for me as tomorrow I will release both of my eBooks, one on fitness and one on nutrition. EBooks are short informational books (45-60) pages of detailed information on a specific topic and delivered to you via email in a PDF file for you to keep forever and have on your phone, iPad, and/or computer, or you can even print it out! I'm very excited to bring you all these projects that I have been working on for a long time!! It was so worth the work, I know you will gain some wonderful knowledge from reading them!! So many people ask me questions about proper nutrition and workout routines so I figured I would put it all in informational books for you to have all the answers in one! :) at the bottom of this blog there is a direct link to purchase the books if you're interested.

I thought it was only fitting that today I talked about my motivation to getting fit and how all this started in the first place! Seven years ago I weighed 120 pounds, pretty skinny, since I'm 5'10. I had just finished high school where I had weighed 150 pounds because I was playing basketball, lifting weights, and eating ALOT! I wasn't muscular but I was not fat at all! When I stopped playing basketball I knew that the extra weight would turn into fat if I wasn't careful. I had stopped lifting weights and working out, I barely ate anything throughout the day and I lost about 25 pounds. Unfortunately I was not very healthy, I was just skinny.

About 6 months passed and I realized that my eating habits were awful (although I was a broke college kid). I knew I had to start eating better, more often, and exercise again. So I did!! I stopped eating off the dollar menu and started making most of my own food or picking smart choices on campus ($2 salads from Wendy's and $5 subways were my favorite). Although my choices were not perfect, I knew the food was at least better than before. I also began to get into competitive running again.

After about 2 years, I was back up to about 130 pounds and I was still running and eating pretty healthy. My life was VERY crazy over the next 2 years and I dropped weight again. This time it was because of stress and emotional depression. My life was difficult and hard at that time and I dropped back again to 120 pounds. I actually began using running as an outlet and a get away from my problems. Running can be a great outlet for stress and alone time but you can also go overboard and run from everything...which I did! I spent 1 more year going back up to 140 and back down to 125. This time it wasn't from running to much, it was from medical issues. My weight fluctuated a lot during this time because of the medicine I was taking for issues I had with my ovaries.

Because I have always journaled, I am able to look back at my life and all these years and see my weight and my life at that time! We are now at the end of 2009...

April of 2010 is when I finally made the decision to stop fluctuating with my diet and start getting healthy the right ways and to turn this into a lifestyle. So I did!! I was off most of my medication and my life had some good order. I had graduated college, I had a real job, and things for the most part were normal for me again. I picked up running again, mostly for fun now and not for competition and I started studying up on health and nutrition. The rest I guess is history. I re connected with my old friend who is now my amazing husband and I had my own place and was cooking healthy foods everyday and preparing meals ahead so I was always on track! I was weighing 130- 135 pounds and that hasn't changed! Life is good and my health is great! I am very blessed.

I feel like sharing my story is important because a lot of people struggle with yo-yo dieting, gaining and losing weight, and stress eating. It is important to get that under control and learn to live a healthy life. It is not good for your body to constantly change weight and eating habits. It takes a heavy toll on your health and internal organs.

Since getting my Personal Training certification and my Nutrition Specialist certification, I have been able to change my diet and exercise routine further to be the healthiest I can! I now spend 2 days a week running, 2 days a week lifting heavy weights, and 2 days a week lifting moderate weights. I spend 7 days a week making sure my diet is in check. This lifestyle makes me happy, my doctor happy, and my body happy!

The power of being fit is within yourself. It was a 7 year battle for me to finally find what works for my body and my lifestyle, but I've found it and I'm never going back to anything else! I have treat days and bad eating days, but I never emotionally binge on eating and I never use running as an escape...I love my life and myself and there is nothing I even want to escape from!

Life is crazy and fitness is hard but your life is worth the time and effort to do so!!

I hope that within my journey you can find a piece of yourself that might be struggling with something similar or maybe you're already on your journey to fitness. Either way, keep going! Being fit is so worth it, it has changed my life in so many ways and I hope it will change yours too!

Check out my eBooks if your looking for more info on fitness or/and nutrition!!!

Here is the direct link to purchase those books! Thanks in advance! You all motivate me as well!
