Good morning to you all! Happy hump day from the other side of the ocean!! I am now in Latvia with my hubby. After days of travel, I am so glad to be in bed!! I love blogging from overseas because I get to see and experience so much, so get ready for some great posts.
Since it is hump day I wanted to do a post about remembering. Sometimes when it comes to goals that we set for ourselves we end up not finishing them or selling ourselves short of the finish line. The important thing to do to prevent failure in goals is to remember why you started. Whether it is a fitness goal or a work goal, a life goal or a financial goal...see it through!!
Remember why you started it in the first place! Remember why you wanted that thing so very bad.
I have set a fitness goal for myself. For the next ten months I will hold myself accountable for my fitness goal. I am wanting to reach a certain body fat % and I know what I have to do to get there. I know that when I become frustrated-which I will, or when I just want to stuff my face with pizza, I am going to remember why I started in the first place...to be as lean as I can with a healthy weight & body fat percentage.
With the help of my husband as my accountability partner, I know that I will achieve my goal for sure! Do you have an accountability partner? Someone who can help keep you on point for your goal? Someone who will tell you "don't eat that", "don't spend that extra money", "don't forget to give 110% on that work project". Who is in your corner that will encourage you and advance you everyday towards your goal? You are your biggest obstacle and sometimes when you get discouraged you will need a friend or partner to help you REMEMBER your goal and help continue to get you there! If you don't have someone like that...find them!! Maybe it's someone you work with that has similar goals, maybe it's a friend at the gym, a trainer at the gym, a financial planner, a family member, or a support group. Find someone or several people that will help keep you on point!
Remember that whatever goals you set for yourself should be...
Realistic- is it possible to even reach what your trying to reach or are you wanting to move to Mars?
Attainable- do you have enough resources to attain this goal? Can you get the resources if you don't have them?
Time sensitive- Does your goal have a time limit? If it doesn't, put a realistic time on it. 30pounds lost in 1 week- no way! But 30 pounds in 30 days...sure! Higher position at work in 1 month-maybe not, but higher work position in 6 months, sure! Save 1,000 in 1 month-maybe not, save 1,000 in 3 months, sure! Whatever your goals are make sure that they work for your lifestyle & routine. Your financial or life goals will be different than your friends or family members because your situation is different. Make your goals work for you and make sure the time table is realistic.
So set some goals for yourself right now! Or get back on it with the goals that you have already set for yourself. Work on maybe achieving a goal by 2014...let's get to work and achieve great...and never stop remembering why you started in the first place!!
Happy hump day from across the ocean!
