Logan is now 18 months & his brain is really soaking up everything! So what will we be working on? The 4 basics!
1. Colors
2. Numbers
3. Letters
4. Shapes
Logan is pretty verbal but not super clear in his words so we are doing lots of pointing & repeating.
I love to work on colors with Logan along with shapes. "A red triangle, a blue square." These things can be easily taught with construction paper & scissors. Repeat & repeat, that is key. Consistency is wonderful. Make it a daily routine & encourage your child along the way.
For our ABC's we are working with a chart that has all his letters & flash cards. These are both inexpensive pieces that I buy to work with. We sing the ABC's song a few times & then I flash random letter cards and repeat 3 times. After we have been through those I go with the chart & point to random letters. Logan has gotten to the point where he likes to point to the letters & let me call them out & he repeats after me.
Numbers are great & we use our hands to show him the amount. This summer I will be introducing objects to help him count along with me. Ex: "look, here are 2 apple slices", "here are 3 pieces of strawberries.", "Logan can you give me 1 pretzel?".
At this moment Logan can only get through about 3 numbers & 5 letters clearly. I'm excited to see his progress this summer.
Physically we are keeping Logan busy with soccer practice. He LOVES sports & loves being outside! We have a wonderful water park that just opened up down the street & our neighborhood pool & park will be our go to this summer for outdoor fun!
As Logan's food palette expands daily, I'm loving trying new recipes for our family & new smoothies too!
Hope you all have a wonderful week & a wonderful summer too!!
