Motivational Mondays- stop comparing

Good morning readers & happy Monday! I just wanted to throw a quick "well wishes" to those readers still in school that graduated college this month & to those kids in school still taking finals!! Focus, focus!!

I wanted to focus this week on comparing! One thing that bothers me as a personal trainer is seeing other personal trainers or fitness folks posting unrealistic photos of women & men bodybuilders. A few here & there are fine...but I have seen my Instagram fill up with photos that no average person will ever appear as!

Now, let me clear this up before my emails flood with complaints! I see NOTHING wrong with those that choose body building as a career/hobby. More power to you because that takes insane dedication!! My only problem is when our media outlets become flooded with nothing but these photos.

An average mom, wife, friend, working person, male, etc...is not going to look like these bodybuilders. They do not have the time & are not interested in that route. The average person wants to generally become healthier, look & feel better, & tone & tighten. The problem with exploiting these bodybuilders or super shredded females & males is that it is not realistic! It is more motivational to see someone progress from weak to strong through natural work & dedication like the average person will have to do.

I follow several bodybuilders & sometimes it is nice to see what hard work & dedication can do for you. And if your aspirations are to become one of these bodybuilders than these motivational people ARE perfect for you. But where are more of the normal people?? It is extremely important that we stop looking to these small percentage of bodybuilders all the time & focus more on YOUR ultimate goals & your realistic expectations. There is no problem with high expectations, but remember that you are you & that there is no need to compare yourself to anyone but yourself. Look at photos of your progress & your success! Focus on comparing yourself to only one person. YOU. You are your best friend when it comes to success & you will reach your goals when you put your mind to it!!

Focuse on you because it's your body & your life! You will be happy when your learn to love yourself & your body!

Sometimes it can be discouraging & depressing to focus on others progress or photos because they are "so perfect" or "so fit". You do not know their journey, their struggles, & their failures. They have worked hard to have the body that they do & you can do the same with your own body! You can make your body the best it can be- but you don't have to compare yourself to anyone else to do that!!

Once again, there is nothing wrong with those that choose to become bodybuilders or fitness athletes. There is nothing wrong with them showing off their hardwork & dedication. But if bodybuilding isn't your goal, maybe that's not all you need to be looking at for motivation! Motivate yourself with your own life story & progress. We won't all look the same & there is no need to attempt to make it that way!

Love you for you!!!

Have a great week!
