Coming live to you today from the beautiful Cabo San Lucas Mexico!! I know its only Sunday but hey, im early! :) Although we have been traveling all summer- we've done a pretty great job staying in sync with our fitness and meal routines. Orlando was probably the hardest trip we have taken as far as our fitness, but here in Mexico we are excited to take in the scenery and take in the fitness!!! My husband Zo will be starting his new season of basketball in Latvia on August 15, that means these last two weeks are crucial in getting in perfect shape for pre-season & training camp.
This is an awesome thing for me because it keeps me extra motivated to put in the same work as he is!!
That's today's motivational topic! PARTNERS
I get asked ALL the time from clients as well as friends why it's so difficult to get into a really good routine, or how to stick with the program! For my clients, I hold them responsible by interacting with them, but when I'm not with them, the choices are theirs!
The best thing you can do for your health & fitness journey is find an accountability partner. I am so fortunate to have my husband who is just as much into fitness as I am. But for those of you who do not have a partner that shares your goals, here are some ideas to stay on track.
1. Before my hubby, I signed up for pre-paid fitness classes. I paid in advance and if you didn't cancel within 24 hours it was non refundable- I was NOT trying to lose that $40! A great way to stay on track is to sign up for a class and pay in advance, let your instructor help keep you on track! Or find a friend in that class to text you and make sure you're coming!
2. Find a friend with similar goals. If you are always going places with your friends and all they want to do is drink and eat...you will probably indulge in the same activities. It's ok to indulge every once in a while but make sure you are choosing your time with friends wisely, get the friend that says lets take a walk and chat...you know what they say "birds of a feather flock together"
3. Set goals with someone who is supporting you!!! At the beginning of my fitness journey years ago, my only goal was to lose body fat percentage. I was never overweight so it was more about toning and cutting for me. I found a girlfriend who agreed to compete with me on % loss! Whoever won was treated by the other for a spa day...who doesn't want that?!?!? I won...but she was close behind and still loves fitness today! Get with a friend that will support you, and set a competitive goal together!
4. Lastly, have fun! Find an accountability partner that ENJOYS fitness. So many times I have clients that say "I have to drag my husband to walk with me" or "I called my friend but they had to reschedule"...these things set YOU back, and this is your time in life to get healthy and fit!!! Don't take steps back because others are! You can love your friend or spouse just the same while your walking and their on the couch...keep pushing forward and find someone who will stay on you about your new lifestyle, goals, and progress!
